Stefanie Wuschitz



︎︎︎ is project leader at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Working at the intersection of research and art, her work engages with practices of queering and decolonizing technology. In addition to her art practice, she is also an activist and educator, and leads customized citizen science workshops. She holds an MFA in Transmedia Arts from University of Applied Arts Vienna (2006) and a MPS from TISCH School of the Arts at New York University (ITP). 2009 she became Digital Art Fellow at Umeå University in Sweden. 2009 she founded the feminist hackerspace and art collective Mz* Baltazar's Laboratory in Vienna that she co-organized for fourteen years. In 2014 she finished her PhD on 'Feminist Hackerspaces' at the Vienna University of Technology. She held research and Post-Doc positions at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, the Vienna University of Technology, Michigan University, Weizenbaum Institut, Universitaet der Kuenste Berlin and is currently project leader of an FWF research project on 'Feminist Hacking. Building Circuits as an Artistic Practice' affiliated to Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. She will build upon her artistic research project at the TU Berlin titled "Coded Feminisms in Indonesia“ (Berliner Hochschulprogramm DiGiTal) through the Elise Richter PEEK project „Feminist Strategies against Digital Colonialism“. Her interactive installations, animations and visuals were shown in international exhibitions, festivals and art venues.
